Legal
Terms of Service
The short version
Be 13 or over. Post recordings you made yourself, of yourself. No speech, no other people's audio, nothing hateful, nothing illegal. You keep ownership of what you post; you let us host and play it. We can remove anything and close any account that breaks these rules. Purchases are virtual items with no cash value, bought through Apple or Google. This section is a summary and the clauses below are what actually applies.
01 The agreement
These terms are between you and the operator of iFart ("we", "us"). By downloading or using iFart, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your data and forms part of this agreement.
02 Who can use iFart
You must be at least 13 years old, and at least 16 in countries where that is the minimum age to consent to a service like this one. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian to agree to these terms on your behalf.
You may not use iFart if we have previously closed your account for breaking these rules, or if the law where you are prohibits it.
03 Your account
You can play as a guest or sign in with Apple or Google. Either way, you are responsible for what happens on your account and for keeping access to your device secure.
A guest account cannot be recovered. It has no email and no password, so there is nothing to sign back in with. Signing out of a guest account, or deleting the app, loses that account and everything on it — recordings, badges and rank included. Link an Apple or Google account first if you want to keep it.
Linking an identity that already belongs to another iFart account will be refused rather than merging the two. One username per account, chosen once.
04 Your content
You own what you post. We do not claim ownership of your recordings, titles or comments.
To run the app, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, transmit and publicly perform your content, and to make the technical copies and format changes needed to deliver it. This licence exists so we can put your recording in the feed, on a leaderboard and in front of other people. It ends when you delete the content, except for copies already made by others and any copy we must keep for legal or safety reasons.
You confirm that you made the recording yourself, that you have the right to post it, and that doing so does not infringe anyone else's rights.
Content posted to iFart is public. Recordings are served from public web addresses and can be played by anyone holding the link. Do not post anything you would mind a stranger hearing.
05 What you may not post
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. Do not post, upload or send:
- Speech. Recordings are screened, and ones containing talking are refused. Do not try to work around it.
- Audio of other people recorded without their knowledge and consent, or any recording you did not make yourself.
- Anything that harasses, threatens, bullies or defames someone, or that reveals private information about them.
- Hate speech, or content attacking people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age.
- Sexual content, sexualised audio, or anything involving or depicting a minor.
- Content that is illegal where you are, that promotes illegal acts, or that infringes copyright or another person's rights.
- Spam, advertising, scams, malware, or automated posting of any kind.
- Attempts to break the service: scraping, reverse-engineering the API, circumventing rate limits, or overwhelming it with traffic.
Impersonating another person, or an iFart account, is also prohibited. So is creating a new account to evade a ban.
06 Scoring and leaderboards
Scores are produced automatically, and both the score and the resulting Verified-ish status are our assessment, not a statement of fact about you or your recording. We may change how scoring and ranking work at any time, and we do not guarantee a score, a rank or that any leaderboard will keep existing.
Do not manipulate them. That includes reacting from accounts you control, coordinating votes, and any automated interaction with the feed. We may remove content, reset scores or close accounts that do.
07 Moderation and enforcement
Anyone can report a recording, a comment or an account, and anyone can block another user — which hides you from each other in both directions. When enough reports accumulate against the same item, it is hidden automatically while a person reviews it.
We may remove content, hide it, limit an account's reach, suspend an account or close it permanently — with or without notice — where we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, or where the law requires it. We aim to review reported content within 24 hours and to act on it, including ejecting the user who posted it.
If you think we got a decision wrong, write to feedback@ifart.app and we will look at it again.
08 Purchases and virtual items
- Payment is taken by Apple or Google, under their terms. We never see your payment details.
- What you buy is a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use a virtual item inside iFart. It is not property, and has no cash value. It cannot be sold, transferred or exchanged for money.
- Purchases are final. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, and by us only where consumer law requires it. If you are in the EU or UK you may have a statutory right to cancel — note that by starting to use a digital item immediately you may lose that right.
- Some items are only sold for a limited time. An item leaving the shop does not take away one you already bought — you keep it, and you can restore it after a reinstall.
- We may change prices, and may retire an item or the shop itself. If we withdraw an item you have already bought, we will tell you beforehand where we reasonably can.
- Virtual items do not survive the deletion of your account.
09 Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time by deleting your account in Settings. Your profile and posts leave the app immediately and everything is erased permanently after thirty days, as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue iFart. Clauses that by their nature should survive — content licence for copies already made, disclaimers, liability limits and governing law — do.
10 The app is provided as it is
iFart is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any recording, score or rank will be preserved.
Content in the feed comes from other people. We do not endorse it, and we are not responsible for it.
Nothing here excludes any warranty or right that cannot legally be excluded where you live.
11 Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost data, lost profits or lost goodwill, arising out of your use of iFart.
Our total liability to you for any claim relating to iFart is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
We do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only to the extent permitted.
12 Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will give reasonable notice in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use iFart afterwards means you accept the new terms; if you do not, delete your account.
13 Governing law and disputes
If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms deprives you of the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, or of your right to bring proceedings there.
14 Contact
Apple and Google are not parties to this agreement and are not responsible for iFart. Where you obtained the app from Apple, Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.
